I'm 18..and I like it!
18 days now sober whoo hoo. The messy detox was pretty well over by Christmas. We have extended family over and rather than sit in my studio alone pounding down drinks by myself, I actually participated in the dinner and socialized with everyone ...sober. It was wonderful!
On New Years Eve people were trying to get me to drink even though they are well aware of my 'problem'. No way. I pulled a Robert Downey and said that I had plans for Easter so I wasn;t going to drink on New Years.
Still determined to change my life, I have absolutely no urge or craving to drink whatsoever, although I realize that day will come hard and strong sometime in the future, so I am preparing my plan, my strategy, on how to face that head on...and win.
I don't want to blow it this time :-)
For everyone just starting out....be strong....the first days are Hell on Earth ...but after you get through them...you will feel like you have somehow joined the human race again.

Ha—I had a feeling you'd be back with good news, Hooped!
For any newbies out there, I wouldn't want this bit of hard-won wisdom to slip by unnoticed, because I don't think I've ever heard it said better:
