Starting Over
Hello everyone,
I'm am new to this website. I signed on here hoping to find some support and meet people I can learn and grow from. My story is I had a medical condition for several years which I took pain pills for. The doctors kept pushing pills and I was stupid enough to continue taking as prescribed. I finally had surgery and was on my way to recover when I tried to get off of them I was hooked. May 2014 I got off of the pills, but this December I was prescribed pain pills and ended up misusing them a few times. Yesterday I flushed them all, I knew I couldn't handle taking them so I had to choose to get rid of them or continually fight the battle of trying to stay clean. It wasn't worth the fight. I'm not going to go through withdrawal again, I didn't take that much, but I am simply discouraged I even misused them...
I am hoping to find people here who can relate, but I am also hoping to find a sponsor. I need to be able to check in with someone daily right now, especially as I have a doctor appointment next week. I can't make it to a NA meeting, please don't push that it currently isn't an option. I'd gladly go if I could.

Good for you! My wife suffers from chronic migraines and she was hooked pretty bad on pain meds for the last 5+ years. CO is one of the highest states ranked for overuse of these drugs. Her pain doctor refused to prescribe them after many years. She had withdrawal and is now on other meds that are not opiate based. It wasn't easy but she got through it.
What I can tell you is that you will find a support group here at SR that is here 24/7/365. Please keep posting and keep reaching out. It helps you and it helps us. Good luck!
