I just read a line in someone elses post that hit me over the head....
"I drank to change the way I feel".
It's so simple and yet it wraps up my huge diatribe as to why I drink. Trying to figure out all the reasons I drink is overwhelming and this one sentence captures it all! Brilliant! Thank You L.I.P!

Yeap it's definitly a common theme, I drank to escape feelings and then it became a routine/habit, finally ending up drinking because I could.
There also seems to be a correlation between why people return to alcohol and feelings, a stressful day at work, some kind of crisis occurring in life, whether it be relationships or something else, all these things can lead someone back to alcohol as it sells the fairytale of a quick fix, a way not to feel.
Every plan therefore needs to have a few more tools in the toolbox for when dealing with life, as there are always going to be a few curve balls in life, even in Sobriety, and so putting in the effort now as to how we're going to deal with those situations without alcohol can pay off in the long run!!

I KNEW all the reasons why I drank...but being an over thinker about everything would get overwhelming and I'd abandon the 'figuring it all out' process...but this one simple line is great....it keeps it simple for me!
