Opinions on Vivitrol

I'll start by saying I'm doing very good on staying sober. I like to read on SR, I go to AA meetings throughout the week and talk weekly one on one with a drug and alcohol counselor. After talking with my counselor about my cravings he highly recommended Vivitrol by injection. I figured I'm willing to try if it helps. So, I had my first shot almost 2 weeks ago and notice absolutely no change in anything. I still crave just the same. I don't want to just give it up but I don't want to continue getting an expensive shot if the results are unnoticeable. Any opinions or suggestions? Keep in mind I had some sober time leading up to my first injection.

Hi ZMan,

Hope all is well and you figure this out with your doctor. I think the response will be somewhat limited here because of the

"DO NOT give or ask for Medical advice."

rule.

Again congrats on staying sober.

The medical advice rule can be tricky for newcomers

If anyone has personal experience, they're welcome to share it so long a they are mindful of the rule.

Recommending something for others, for example, would be medical advice

Medical and Psychiatric advice includes giving a diagnosis, treatment plan, medication advice and dosage suggestions, over the counter and natural home remedies that should be approved by medical professionals
