HI,

Glad your not drinking today. Neither am I. I made a list of things that need to be done around here. I have one more room to put plastic up on Windows. While at my face2face last night it started snowing. Not really in the Christmas spirit.

Welcome back Grendhar and congrats on making today a sober one. Keeping busy is a big help, and spending time here on SR can help too. Taking some time each day to purposefully strengthen your sobriety above and beyond just "keeping busy" is very important in my opinion . That time can be spent in lots of different ways ( aa or other recovery meetings, time here on SR, reading, meditation/self reflection, etc ) but making it a part of every day is paramount.

Well, that sounds positive.
Sober life ain't always a bowl of cherries
but, for the sober alcoholic it sure beats drinking.

Some days it's one foot in front of the other,Grendhar.

You're productive, sober today and getting things done.

I think you should feel good about yourself.

Hang in there, it gets better.

Glad to see you here and that you are sober today. I will be sober today as well. Keep at it and let those sober days stack up. One week in I'm already feeling a million times better. Stay strong!

Done more cleaning than I ever have in one day lol. I just keep going from project to project to keep my mind busy. Going to sit down with some coffee for a little bit and then get back to the cleaning.

I have books. I probably ought to read the Big Book and Living Sober book I have. Last night I read SR for a couple of hours before I went to sleep. That's probably why I woke up this morning motivated to do something other than drinking.

Got house clean, did some maintenance on my truck, bought some food.

Will read one of those books or SR again before I go to sleep .. going to sleep with a good mindset might be a tool for me.

Felt so good to walk into my house this morning without a brown paper bag and the feeling of defeat.

What's weird is I've felt okay so far today .. then I went to clean rust off some wrenches and other tools and became irritated and have been thinking about a drink.

You can do it. Irritation, boredom, etc are hard at first. But every time you get through it without drinking, you get stronger.
