looking forward to making friends on here
Hi, and thanks for letting me on the site!
A vital move for me to make, as part of my positive (at the moment) determination to stop using alcohol as a cure -all and crutch!
I won't wait for new Year, I know I have to make my resolution NOW, at this difficult, boozy/celebratory time of the year, or I'll end up feeling ill and painfully bloated and with acid reflux , acheing liver and kidneys! Again.
Written down it looks awful, why do we do it?......
I hope to give and get help and support, and get to know you, knowing I'm not alone, it's not just me, and it's not just Men; We women have severe alcohol problems and addiction too.
That was my first post.

Hi and welcome to you, I'm glad you signed up. There are plenty of other ladies around here. You are smart to make your resolution now. What a fabulous gift to yourself and your loved ones to pass the holidays sober, pain and hangover free. Just imagine what a great Christmas this will be!
Hi eborlady.
Yes, lots of women are on here. Everyone here is so friendly, understanding and supportive.
I'm glad I found this site. I restarted my efforts to go sober only a few days ago. I was originally going to start in January - but a good friend said to me, "There's no time like now. If you have decided to change, do it now and don't wait." I am very grateful to her.
Welcome and please stay around.

Welcome, eborlady!
Seeing all the milestone celebrations on here, it looks like a lot of people decide to get sober before the holidays.
If you check out the December class or the daily 24 Hour Recovery Connection threads, you might find a group of people that will carry you along with them and give you support while you create your new and improved sober life.
Life can be good again!

Hi eborlady.
That is a very good decision to stop drinking right away, what to wait for? Back around the same time of year in 2013, I opted to wait for the new year and then a couple more weeks, for no reason as I did nothing else but stayed locked in my apartment during the holidays, drinking. It absolutely did not bring me any good, I just grew even sicker (had the same symptoms that you describe, and more) and more isolated from anything decent.
Given that you are new to SR, maybe spend time here over the holidays, there is always a lot of traffic around this time and the support can be fantastic.
Good luck to you!
