Struggling today

Hi all, today has been a bit of a struggle. Today is two weeks sober but I finally got rid of all the left over beer and spirits that were around the house. It was a nightmare, I really wanted one of those beers. I can still feel that craving in my belly right now. If I hadn't got rid of them today I think I would be drinking now. I just feel a bit weak.

Two weeks is great! Do you have a plan on what to do when you get cravings? I found getting out and getting some exercise to be helpful. Even if it's a 15 minute walk. Cravings will usually pass fairly quickly. Just get through them.

Congratulations on pouring it out! That shows a great deal of strength.

Onward!

I am nearly at 2 weeks also. Today I feel sad, I have no idea why really. Good news though is that I am not tempted to drink.

Looking back this would have been enough reason to open the vodka.

I think the best thing for me is an early night.

We are all in this together, be strong. Getting rid of everything is a good move

Jd1639, I just take minute by minute and day by day. I have started exercising so that does keep my mind off things quite a lot.

Well done on two weeks! the only way is up.
I think pouring away the poison is really positive and also symbolic of commitment. It took me a lot longer to do the "ceremonial pouring" down the sink and I think a small part of me was keeping stuff just in case. It's all good.
Be well xx

Good job on 2 weeks sober.

Exercising is a good idea to help you get through those cravings.

I find a lot of comfort checking in here. It makes me realize I"m not alone in this recovery journey. Reading the different threads is also hugely helpful. I think getting rid of the alcohol is KEY! I did the same and my home has been a safe, sober environment for me for almost three years now. Claim your space and you will find in time being home will make you feel more relaxed and comfortable because it is an alcohol-free zone...this is what I found and it is so relaxing for me to be home now.

I think it is natural to have cravings especially this early in your sobriety.... I am on day 40 and I still think about it sometimes. You should be very proud of yourself for throwing out the devil juice.... You are not missing anything by not drinking only so much to gain...

Congratulations albadge it takes a lot of strength to accomplish the clean and rid out the remainder.

'Tossing out the remainder of booze is one of the most difficult things'. I remember eating strawberry icing/frosting and drinking a half gallon of milk the night I threw my unopened case in the dumpster. Good victory meal.

So much strength to do that especially on a day you're feeling weak. That sounds like really good progress to me.

2 weeks is awesome! Just keep going. With my very last relapse (almost a year ago), I got some sober time and just got over the super intense cravings and went out and drank. I had to rebattle all those cravings all over again. It's not worth it.
