The NightOwl Thread
"Night Owl"
Night comes down and finds you alone
In a space and time of your own
Lost in dreams in a world full of shadows.
Down the street the neon light shines
Offering refuge and hope to the blind
You stumble in with no thought of tomorrow.
Yes, I get a little lonely when the sun gets low
And I end looking for somewhere to go
Yes, I should know better but I can't say no.
Oh no no no
No no no no
The lights are low and the Muzak is loud
You watch yourself as you play to the crowd
One more face in a palace of mirrors.
One more drink, you're sailing away
One more dream but it's looking ok
One more time to watch the flow of the river.
Yes, I get a little lonely when the sun gets low
And I end looking for somewhere to go
Yes, I should know better but I can't say no.
Oh no no no
No no no no no no no oooooooh
Yes, I get a little lonely when the sun gets low
And I end looking for somewhere to go
Yes, I should know better but I can't say no.
Oh no no no
No no no no
You've seen it all yeah you've seen it before
Like a fool you always come back for more
You live your life like there was no more tomorrow.
Night comes down and finds you alone
In a space and time of your own
Lost in dreams in a world full of shadows.

One of the best songs I know about the demons we all face, by the late, great Gerry Rafferty.
Good idea for a thread. I'm usually awake until 3:00 AM Eastern US time, and sometimes later; although, I'm not always online, but I'll be sure to check this thread when it's late and I'm online.
Can I hear the stars twinkling tonight? Interesting. I went outside to get something from my vehicle and without looking up, I felt them twinkling. On a cold clear night you can feel the energy. Maybe I did hear them twinkle.
Watched a movie, Coldwater last night and could barely follow the main plot for the Colonel character and the actors' most-excellent portrayal of alcoholic demise. From the beginning of the movie til the end his spiral into insanity is well-played. Non-accountability, power trippin' and the contagiousness of his brain/spirit wasting being picked up by his underlings (sub-consciously or predisposition of followers?) is So spot-on. I will say no more as to not spoil it for those who have missed it but it was a good movie on human nature going awry....with the aid of drugs, alcohol, and the people using them. I've said for years that those in charge of other's welfare (courts, Corrections employees)are the ones who need monitoring via drug/alcohol/psych testing afore they are given a position of charge. Sadly they are the ones testing and have no-one to answer to. Absolute power indeed corrupts.
I was up bright and early this morning, about 7:00- the only slightly annoying side effect of being sober, waking up bright and bushy tailed early in the morning on a Sunday. I would have preferred to have slept in but I got up to make coffee. I am having a lazy morning to compensate!
I'm not a night owl like I used to be but I am up pretty darn early usually 3 or 4 AM US EST and that's usually when I am most likely to come on here and it's always slow so this thread would work great for people like me as well
