My 1st DWI tonight
My 1st DWI tonight
Well, it would have been tonight if I hadn't quit drinking 18 days ago. I was pulled over tonight (bar time) for speeding. The cop told me that they were just watching closely for impaired drivers and that's why he stopped me. I am certain this would have been it for me. It's funny how things happen.
About a week after my daughter got sober she was returning home from her first ever AA meeting and hit a DUI checkpoint. When the cop came to the window he said "have you had anything to drink tonight" and she smiled and said " NO I haven't". The cop said "what's with the smile?" And she showed him her newcomers AA coin she had been holding in her hand. And that ******** cop leaned in and said "any idea how many people I've arrested who have one of those coins". And my daughter said "no I don't; all I know is that tonight I'm not one of them."

I really had forgotten what it was like to be able to drive around and now worry about the cops. Even in the mornings I was worried about getting pulled over.
Now I smile when they follow me.
Now I smile when they follow me.
