I sure thought I needed a drink tonight.
I took off this afternoon to meet a guy to sell a car. He was coming from out of town and I agreed to meet him halfway which was an area I'm not real familiar with (120 miles from home). I carried a pistol with me not knowing the guy or area well and being by myself (I have a concealed permit). He was a hustler and the negotiations were heated because we had already agreed on a price and he was pushing bs stuff. Anyway, we struck a deal- I took a ride with Uber to my parents home where I have a spare car until
I buy a new one. All the stress of the unknown, risk of a transaction of several thousand cash with someone I don't know in an unfamiliar place, etc when I got home, I was ready to take the edge off. A stiff drink would have been in order. Instead- Some
Sleepy time tea and kick back with the dog and I'm feeling sober and finally relaxed.

Good job, Kids. I had some cravings today, too, but we both got through. I did some home practice yoga and took a hot bubble bath and spent time with my dog as well. Much better than drinking! On to Day 26...

Thanks all. I was posting just yesterday or the day before how things were going well (day 25) and I really felt like I have a good handle on this sobrity thing. I have a pretty stressful but stable job but I've been doing well with it as well as the "fun" triggers: Football games, friends coming over etc. but I think today was a good example of how sneaky that alcoholic mind is. I was thinking the most challenging times would be the fun times I've gotta be careful about. But today's stressful day taught me a stressful situation is what I likely need to be most aware of.

Hi kidseverywhere, great job on navigating that slippery slope. Stress was a huge trigger for me. And why shouldn't it be, alcohol is the perfect remedy for the racing mind, it calms, soothes, relaxes and allows escape. Until the effects wear off and all that stress comes back ten-fold. Good job man.
