Thumbs up Leave no wake...

Living in a port city. Seeing boaters come and go. Rule is no wake. Don't rustle your neighbors or friends with a ripple of unnecessary movement. Be still on water.

Be still on water?

Seems to me the whole purpose of water is not to be still. Yet we try.

A drunk mans hopes set adrift. That's an oxymoron. Let's see who bobs more. The dreams or the drunk?

Leave no wake means to be unfelt. Good or bad we all desire to be felt. By others and not just ourselves.

Love and be loved.

I have lived my life trying never to cause a wave. Growing up in a drunk house of silence…. Stillness… Our secret young cloak of invisibility protects us. Shhhh…

Being alive is having a wake. Certainly not what we leave behind. A wake is about being felt by our passing. Our simple presence on something greater than us. There is a distinct difference.

Love and be loved.

The stillness of sobriety leaves a greater wake than my drunkenness ever did. Again I don't need to look behind to see its effects. In sobriety I just need to feel it.

Love and be loved.

K

Wow Ken! Timely as usual. Thanks for putting that into words. I grew up in an alcoholic home too, always trying to be as silent and still as possible. When things are always volatile, you don't want to draw attention to yourself. I'm learning it's ok to take up space on this earth and it's ok to be human and 'felt'.

Thanks Brynn!

That's exactly how I am feeling. It's ok to be seen. Thank you for putting that much simpler than I can seem to express.

I can be hopefully dry sometimes!!! Lol

Resonates with me also Ken. Thanks. Don't talk, don't tell. It gets so ingrained. I'm envious of people who make waves and are out there. Not caring about what others think of them. Not shy. I'm kinda tired of being quiet and polite...but change is hard.

Cutting a swath but not swamping those around us. A fine balance. As a drunk I was more likely to swamp people but now I'm sober I like to have a more meaningful impact.

I like the cut of your jib, Weas thanks!
