Feeling sick?

Thought of this reading another thread but didn't want to hijack it by posing the question there.

Anyone else ever feel physically ill at the thought of actually drinking? Like, the urge will come and it seems so easy to just drink, but then thinking of actually carrying out the act of drinking causes one to feel sick to their stomach?

It's an interesting effect of sobriety it seems, as the churning stomach feeling seems to have become its own deterrent. No complaints though, that's for sure.

Yes, it does. The smell of alcohol is awful to me.

Yeah the smell of alcohol hits me now.

In the beginning though I can relate to imagining having a drink and feeling ill!!

I don't feel physically ill, but just the thought of drinking repulses me.

I can still remember the taste of it and gag. But then, I never drank for the taste...

I used to feel sick after work thinking about drinking and drink anyway, I think it was my body trying to tell me not too. I ignored that feeling for a few years successfully, what a great accomplishment.

I still feel nasaus at the smell.

I wish this was the case, it would make stopping a heck of a lot easier.

Yes the smell of left over beer that's been sitting out all night ....grosses me out. I cannot stand the smell of warm stale beer. I'm gonna keep that in mind next time I decide to go on one of my binges, which usually last a few days.

Actually, yeah. Not always a visceral feeling but some times my stomach does recoil if I see cans of beer.
Similar to the feeling I would have if I saw that ex I told off so royally...

At 6 months sober, I celebrate that yucky stomach/small shudder of revulsion when I pass the alcohol aisle in the grocery store. For me, this is a major success!
