Feeling More Like Myself

I am having the experience of feeling more like myself after three months. Before I worried constantly, but I couldn't really attach those worries to who I was. I just subconsciously knew that I had a problem. Now, I feel this connection with myself again.

Anybody else get that after they stopped drinking?

That's great to hear.

Yes, I think there is a moment when I reconnected with myself, the self that I had been running away from for so long.

Sobriety was a learning curve for myself, learning who I was again, my thoughts, my feelings, learning to have emotions and not escape from them like I used to.

Finding out who we are away from alcohol can be a great journey of discovery!!

It is a great feeling. It is funny because so much time has passed. Oh, "hey you, how are you doing?!".

Totally! I find myself doing and saying things like I used to when I was much younger before the alcohol got totally out of control.... good, silly, quirky things lol. I was so messed up at the start of my recovery didnt know who the hell I was, slowly but surely shes coming back x

^^This!^^ But I'm finding it a bit uncomfortable dealing with the full force of my thoughts and emotions too. It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride for me, and I'm hoping things will be a bit more steady from here on out (after the 3-month period).

I am still having a little trouble with feeling emotions again. Have to tell myself it's okay to FEEL things again. Glad to read that you get more comfortable with that

I just hit 90 and I hope so too. I would say overall it is much better, but the mood swings are just a part of life right now. I am trying to keep a narrow focus and do physical activities. Big or distant (more than three months away) changes are something I try not to think about right now.

I'm starting to see me again. Was talking to my mom yesterday and telling her a a story, had her laughing like I use too. It was a good feeling.
