SR has tons of posts and thousands of members. I don't have any inside information but just doing the math the must need a lot of bandwidth and server space. Hosting SR can't be cheap, yet all they do is totally free to all of us. I'll take some banner ads and stuff to keep this place out there! It helps so many people, including me!

The last thing you need to be doing is getting distracted with stuff going on elsewhere other than the wisdom found in the threads here on SR, I don't even notice the ads anymore, after a while they just become part of the furniture.
