It works...Thank you Sober Recovery community
Greetings all,
When I had reached the end of my rope on 01/30/12 and was physically close to death due to alcohol/drugs as well as overeating, I found this place. I found this place and I, for the first time in my entire life, got honest about what I was doing.
10 years of isolationist binge drinking/eating, 6-7 days a week, had me weighing over 420 pounds and physically at deaths door.
Getting honest here, in these forums, helped give me the courage to try a real AA meeting. I wish to God I could remember the posters name, but I will always credit a post here that helped pushed me out of my own door and into the rooms of AA.
"I find that when I step out of my comfort zone, I am able to grow."
Thank God for that post and thank God for this place. I did step out of my comfort zone, and continue to on a daily basis. I have a life now that I could have never dreamed of while killing myself with alcohol and food. I have transformed physically (dropped 150+ lbs), emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. All thanks to AA and my Higher Power...but that journey started here.
Every time I speak in front of group of alcoholics I give credit to Sober Recovery for help in beginning my journey. Every day I ask my Higher Power to help me to help another alcoholic as I try to pass it on with every breath I take. After all, you people helped save my life...thank you!

That's great! Thanks for posting here about it--I love when people come back to share positive experiences with SR after taking a recovery path that didn't require them to be on here much. This place really feels like such an important hub for so many different people. Your story is an inspiration
