Hey All

I haven't been around in awhile and surprise surprise, it is because I was drinking. I have the tools to stop, I have written out all my plans and yet, then its like, why the heck not. I don't have anything else to do.

Id loved to hear some words of support & encouragement. My therapist is really good, but he isn't around all the time. I am not working so I can pretty much do whatever.

I am just so tired of alcohol. Like I would rather have people say "she has a cocaine addiction" than say I am an alcoholic.

Welcome back JS. Although your therapist isn't around all of the time, we are. Next time you feel weak, lean on us... post here before caving.

We all have times when we are bored, happy, sad, you name it and we have all had those times that trigger drinking.

You have the power to not act on those feelings. It takes a ton of will power and you've got to dig deep, but you absolutely can do it.

What you will get out of not drinking is worth every ounce of effort you put in.

Sorry about the circumstances that brought you back to SR, but I'm glad you found your way back.

Stay strong today.

Awww! Hi!
Yeah it's really hard, I've been trying to quit since last nov- almost a year
But it's finally clicked with me, I'm done now.
What helped me the most was getting educated on alcoholism, I read a lot and post a lot here, so much info and support.
I had to change my thinking too, instead of feeling like I'm losing something, I feel like I'm gaining so much with sobriety.
I also got so exhausted with the start again, stop again process, I finally surrendered and embraced getting sober and making a new life; it's actually fun to restart as a sober person, relearning so many things; its hard, but worth every little battle.
Keep at it, over and over again, you'll get there- Rome wasn't built in a day
Xoxo

I find it really helps to understand the chemical process of alcohol. I have books galore sitting around for me to read. I just stare at them. Its so dumb

Sounds like focusing on more the theory of addiction than practicing the action of Sobriety, but what good are having resources if you're not using them?

For me having a second opinion on my own thought processes was important, using support such as SR each and every day, why not join an SR class, or check in on the daily threads?

Sitting in isolation never got me far either!! You can do this, but proactive action for me was the deal breaker!!

Welcome back Jules

There's a lot in this link about recovery plans, fighting cravings and finding support - it's a great place to start

Really happy to see you, julesonya. You are fed up - and that's a good thing. We're here to help.
