Sorry I just realized you asked a question that I never answered.
1. AVRT- it really bring my mental side into it all and helps me think about thing rationally. Only I have the arms to put the alcohol into my mouth. There is nothing forcing me to do so.
2. Cardio- whether it be walking, jogging, biking etc. When I am more active I find it easier to be sober.
3. Communication- when I think I am having a problem I talk it out. Whether it be with my wife, a friend who is now sober etc. Not letting something bottle up is key.
4. Keeping busy. A bored mind turns into a drinking state for me.
5. Stay happy! If you get down, get upset, get pissed off, mad etc drinking comes easier.
