im scared to celebrate a year

I just got a year the other day.. i celebrate at a meeting this coming week which is not my homegroup, theyre letting me celebrate there with a weeks notice.

Im nervous to speak because i never share at meetings.. & i got a year clean by just going to meetings & not working any program. No sponsor, no homegroup, no steps.

I feel like i really dont deserve to speak at a meeting & its really been bothering me. I feel like i cant really be a message of hope. Am i wrong to feel like this?

You stayed sober for a year by going to meetings and hearing others speak. You definitely deserve to speak. So do the new guys sitting there trying to get another day. Let them hear your story. Congrats on the year

Congrats on your sober year! Why do you have to speak at the meeting? Can you just say 'thank you' and sit down again? Short and sweet.

Congratulations on 1yr. What ever you did to get yourself there may help someone in the same boat as you. You never know who's life you may touch.

Great job!!

Congratulations on a year. I don't have any advice. Just a congrats on a year. That's terrific.

You do have something to share, you know. Even if you've not spoken or worked steps. How often do you attend meetings? How have they helped you? What about them helps you? That's what you talk about. How do you apply what you've heard in your daily life?

Keep going!
