Question why do i do this?

I should have almost 4 months sober, but I don't.
I love being sober. I love this life. My family loves me and our life.
So what is my problem???
For some reason I have tried a couple of times to make myself drink. What the heck? On 3 occasions I have bought beer and tried to make myself drink it. I can't stand the taste and only get a couple down before wondering why the hell I am making myself do it.
Has anyone else done this?
Any idea why I would put myself through this?
Thanks in advance

Read around here a bit--you'll find that you're not alone and that others struggle with the same problems.

My wife and I have been sober for almost three years. We gave our sobriety a solid foundation by going to ninety AA meetings in ninety days. After all the effort we put into drinking, it was important to put a similar effort into getting sober.

If you'd you truly don't enjoy it when you do it, its just an old habit that will dwindle off. Consider your experiment concluded. Stay sober.

Welcome to SR! Booze is very crafty; even when we know better it's there whispering in our ear, trying to get us to cave. Stand up to the bottle! Life is better and more meaningful sober.

Hi minutebyminute - welcome

It's hard to know from just a few sentences

I know I drank long after any pleasure had worn off because I was scared of facing life sober.

Glad you posted MBM, you will find much support & encouragement here! I've drank many a time, after vowing I wouldn't.

Welcome,

I wonder if there is something you could add to your recovery program to help you to move forward.

Hi minutebyminute, I have experienced the same thing as you, and it was recently. It just wasn't doing it for me. Ended up dumping it out. I concur with what leviathan said, its pretty spot on. Hope that helps. You are not alone. I don't know about you, but I consider it a blessing.
