OK... Adivce from the Scots..

So as I await my flight overseas I was googling ginger beers in Scotland, as ginger beer is one of my favorite go to non alcoholic alternatives.....

But all I find is ALCOHOLIC ginger beers!!!

Are there any beverages in Scotland without alcohol????

Gotta have my go-to plan.

I've never been to Scotland, but a lot of English ginger ales/beers are booze free. Don't be ashamed to ask.

In England they hav lots of "cordials," lime and currant are common. A lot of pubs make their own or have a special flavor. You can have them mixed with water or soda water.

If they have elderflower, that is AWESOME! I loooove elderflower soda. Marks and spencer carries my absolute favorite.

I love pubs. Sometimes they are full of drunks, but most times not. I never felt pressure to drink. Drinking and driving law is more strict than in the states, so it's very common to have people not drinking. My favorite part is that cordials were usually very cheap, cheaper than soda in a bar here. And soda water was often free!

I love being sober in the uk. Have a great time!

No prob, have fun!! Lots of coffee places too, tearooms, you don't have to go to pubs if they make you feel shaky. In fact, tearooms are the absolute best because they always have CAKE!

Hi, there are lots of non alcoholic ginger beers here, they are often in cans and tend to be sold alongside soft fizzy drinks in the shops. Just ask for non alcoholic ginger beer if you are out and about. Whatever you do do not have Crabbies it's very strong alcoholic ginger wine/beer. Hop e you have a wonderful time here, yes there are a lot of Scots who drink too much but I'd say the majority of people don't have a problem with drink and there are loads of us who are sober
Peace X

Thank you Peace!!

Crannies is the ginger beer that kept coming up in all my google searches for 'Scotish ginger beer'. I was starting to believe there was no beverage in the country without alcohol, lol.

I'm lookin forward to trying IRN BRU which I discovered online after making this post.

Taking off now!!! Next stop, Amsterdam and then on to Glasgow!

Have a good trip free owl. I like the Rochester ginger drink. But there is one with alcohol and, of course one without! Unsure if they have it in pubs though, then again I didn't know you could get irn bru in pubs!

Don't forget your Glaswegian translation book! Hehe.

Hey FreeOwl,

I'm Scottish and can confirm as others have said that you can get non-alcoholic ginger beer here, just be sure to ask for the non-alcoholic kind.

You must also try Irn Bru, Scotland's non-alcoholic national drink!

Welcome to Scotland when you get here, I hope you enjoy your stay.

I'm also Scottish but don't live there. I do go back every summer and ginger beer is my eldest's choice. The longer I'm away the more I long to be back.

Enjoy and do forget your sunscreen.

Bundaberg GB, which is a natural brew variety, is sold at Tescos & Waitrose.

Irn Bru is awesome.

Ginger beer wise, I find a good Old Jamaica Ginger Beer hits the spot. Fentimans make a really good one as well. It is quite a lot more expensive, but it's the real deal and delicious. Worth a try
