Newbie question

I feel kind of dumb asking this, but what role does a sponsor play? A few people have said " get a sponsor", but I don't know what one does or how you find one

Here's the official AA pamphlet about sponsorship. It's definitely worth a read.

Yes, read the AA pamphlet - but, basically an sponsor is a mentor of sorts. They may initially help you to make some sense out of what you hear at meetings , integrating you into the fellowhisp and are available to share their experience, strength and hope in working the program = steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Glad you walked into the rooms and are posting on SR, friend!
Keep coming back
