getting prepared

So .... its time to take the empties to the the recycling bin .... need to prepare ....
1. Quick look down the drive see if anyone's around.....
2. Dash outside empties in hand
3. Shove empties in bin and squish them down under other rubbish so a. Neighbours don't notice and b. Mr doesn't notice.
4. Quick look around again to double check no one's looking.
5. Dash back in to house .... safe to have another drink

I remember that.

It's so much better now. The last time I carried bottles to the recycler, they were from mineral water. No having to worry about being seen.

That's all within your reach, Adelina.

Funny story

Although I dont have that privliage because the garbage truck picks up the bin, tips it upside down to empty it and out comes 100 beer bottles and 5 wine bottles all crashing and smashing at once .....at 6am

I realised you can determine the lifestyle of your neighbors just by listening to the bin, I know the couple 2 doors down also like to drink hehe

This is why I tried to avoid anything in glass bottles. Boxes of wine are relatively quiet, but very awkward to smuggle in and out of the house...

Strange to click on this post to read about getting rid of empties , cause I can hear clinking of bottles as I'm typing . My neighbors are loading up there's to bring back money on deposit . Then get their next stash , with what they make off them ..
When I did it 4-5 big green bags of just beer can's maybe 2-3 soda bottles . The clerk would say "Oh you had company ??" I was so well known they knew the soda wasn't mine
I walk with s smile on my face to toss in my plastic water bottles to recycles now - Feels Great !!!

One the things I learned here on SR and it is genius. Put the empties in your neighbors trash.

I am so grateful that hiding the evidence is no longer part of my life

I too am so grateful that this kind of routine is no longer a part of my life. That and all the hiding and shame and worry at the supermarket that somebody I know will see me and look in my trolley................ free of all that!! Great.

One time we turned in our bottles to the recycling center he asked us...where are all the beer bottles? Ha!

Great sobriety moment: bringing my recycling out to the bin and seeing nothing in there that makes me sad or ashamed. :-)

Hi all sorry I disappeared after writing this I'm ok I've just been avoiding anything with the word "sober" in it as that's definitely not what I've been these last couple of weeks.
Thanks for your replies and some handy tips I see .... putting the empties in the neighbours trash might not be an option though they hardly drink in fact most evenings as I'm drinking my wine I watch them go jogging or cycling!!!

This is why I have a garage FULL of boxes of empty wine bottles. That 'Crash' of my bottles going into the recycle bin, knowing my neighbours could hear, always made me cringe.

I have been there myself, best to just suck it up and get rid of them all. I felt much better not having any emptys hanging around or any booze in the house at all.

It is depressing enough after you quit to find empties you forgot about.
