9 Months one day at a time.

Greetings,

I thought I would just check in. I like to check in monthly and post, even though last month I didn't, was busy travelling and never made the time to post. So here I am!

Things are definitely better in recovery. I found that not drinking/using left a rather large 'gap' in my life and I had to fill it. So these days I am attending meetings regularly, talking/texting with my sponsor daily, taking a full course load at University, finding happiness and fulfillment as a single father of 2, travelling, focusing on health with diet and fitness, and just taking it one day at a time. Sure a bit of planning comes into play, but believe me when I say this, the plan is executed One Day At A Time. But really, this is a saying that I have overlooked early on, thinking it to be too obvious, or too simple, but I am finding real power in it lately.

I find I am finding out what serenity is, little glimmers of hope and happiness, that used to be completely invisible due to my very unhealthy lifestyle. I used to believe that serenity came in the form of a drink or a drug and it was the desired effect I chased. It worked, for awhile, then it got really destructive, still kinda worked, and eventually almost destroyed me. 9 months ago I hit a turning point, and really decided to take a huge interest in recovering. I owe a lot to this forum, so much to the amazing people here who are so generous with support.

I am just continuing on through the challenges, taking em as they come, enjoying the so many rewards sobriety has given me, reading here EVERY day still. Thanks and I hope everyone is doing well!

Justin
