New to the Forum!
Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this site and I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. My name is Katie and I'm from northern Michigan. I'm working on 2 years sober and I am just here finding external support. I have a decent support group here, but I love all of the support I can get- as I'm sure many of you do. Thanks!

My best advice I can give to someone would be to be gentle on yourself. Going through recover is hard... SO incredibly hard. And it disrupts a LOT of things in life. When I started down this path, I didn't realize all of the effort it would take. And not just physically. Emotionally I was absolutely drained. It took a lot for me to change a lot of things in my life, put boundaries up where they should have been so long before this happened, quit controlling things that I cannot control, but more importantly- having patience with myself and realizing that I'm not perfect. And I'm not ever going to be perfect. It eased things up a bit for me. Because I thought I had to be the model recovery student. And I needed to be perfect in everything. This eased up the stress that I had and any need to drink. I also attend AA. Regularly- at least 3 to 4 meetings a week.
I hope this helps you. Please feel free to contact me too with any questions you have I am always happy to help a fellow!
