Very new to this

Hello.
I have an issue with alcohol abuse.
I drink a bottle of vodka most nights.
I usually vomit after 1 or 2 drinks but after I've had a few i seem ok.
I'm scared of what this is doing to my health but i can't seem to stop.
Can anyone help me please?

You made the right decision to come to SR for support. This is a great site with people just like you who will understand what you are going through.
My advise would be to stay close to SR and post a lot. John

Hi, welcome to SR! We're all here because we've all been there. We're here to support you as much as we can

Have you looked into AA, SMART, AVRT? What are you gonna do to beat this and change your life?

Being sober is awesome. I've only got 2 months but I can't believe how good life can be. Yours can be too

AB1976 welcome there's no quick fix , but SR has a lot of useful info . If you really want to quit & can't on your own , ask your DR. to help you . At the last end I was vomiting too . I ended up in the ER so I would not wait on stopping . Post & read

Welcome AB!

You have found a great place that will offer a lot of knowledge and support.

Have you thought about seeing a Dr. To help you detox. A bottle of vodka a day is a lot of alcohol and detox can be dangerous, even deadly. I went cold turkey and ended up in the ICU for nearly a week. It was a terrifying experience that could of been completely avoided had I sought medical help with detox. This is not meant to scare you but you do need to be safe.

I am glad you are here and hope to see you post often. SR was a daily part of my sobriety for the first 6 months and I still come by often while begging out on my couch. I know you can do this if you want it!

Please please please see a dr and be honest about your drinking. I wish I had done a medical detox my first withdrawal. Cold turkey can be dangerous. you are in the right place here with support. It helps to read as many posts here as you can, and know many have been in your shoes and become sober. Best of luck and please keep posting (after you call a physician You CAN stop. Best to you

Welcome, I'm glad you found us.

My advice for the early days is to change your routines and daily habits. If you're drinking at night, can you go out and visit a friend, go for a walk or run, or do something that doesn't involve alcohol. Don't bring alcohol into your home. And, keep reading and posting.

Welcome to the family. I second the suggestion of getting your doctor's help in going thru withdrawal. Alcohol w/d can be dangerous. Be safe when detoxing.
