celebrating 1 year

Well, assuming I make it through tomorrow, that will be one year sober!

I'm heading down the coast this afternoon with my sponsor, who has become a friend as well. We met one year ago tomorrow, at my very first AA meeting, my "day 1". We're staying the night at a pretty spot on the coast, a hostel associated with a lighthouse. Tomorrow morning we're going to the local AA meeting there, to celebrate my 1 year.

This has been one of the best years of my life ... I feel like I have recovered some of the happiness and wonder I felt as a child, that I had really lost in the last few years of my drinking. I'm so grateful to be sober.
