Question first ever post

hi all

I've been looking at threads on this site for a while now and have finally decided to join. id love to say I' ve stopped drinking and be able to tell a positive story but in all honesty I'm struggling.
I am here because I can see that my drinking is slowly getting worse and out of control but I cant seem to stop or do anything about it. the logical side of me is shouting STOP!!! but then the other side, I guess that's the addiction is keeping me on it.
I am eager to be in contact with others in the same position, get some advice and support and just be able to relate and know I am not alone in feeling like this.

Welcome to the site, adelina123.

You are not alone, most of us here can relate to your struggle.

You can stop. One day at a time, don't take a drink. String a bunch of those together. Just don't pick up a drink, no matter what happens. That's how I did it.

Are you ready to make that decision today?

You're so not alone! The courage it took for you to post is a start. I did the exact same thing, knowing my drinking was getting worse and becoming a habit, but doing nothing about it, except beating myself mentally on a daily basis.

Keep reading and talking. So many people here truly care.

Welcome adelina. You just need to make a commitment to not drink today. Hang out here and you'll get lots of support as well as a sense of accountability. You are right, you are not alone in this.

Hi and welcome.

Your first post may be the most important thing to do in your life.
I call it an action step, with more to follow results in recovery from drinking. The next one would be not having a drink one day at a time in a ROW. Usually the obsession lasts only a short while at a time in the beginning.
I went to AA for face to face help from people who understood each other like here on this forum.

The bottom line for me and many others is to action which results in work and change and recovery.

BE WELL

thank you everyone. it just seems crazy that even though we know what we are doing is not good for us, we know it could very well kill us..... we still carry on!!!

Adelina welcome you've found a grate place here in SR . There's posts & threads of all kinds that will be helpful to you in over coming your addiction . Most of us start with one day at a time on our own . Others find it too hard & look for outside help .
This is doable - Welcome

Yes I went on for many years wanting to stop , trying to stop . Until my body pretty much made the decision for me . I got so sick at the end I couldn't even drink a few swallows with out gagging & it not staying down .
Alcohol is a slow Killer . One user on here has a saying in there signature line , that sticks in my head . " Alcohol is trying to kill me" which if you give it a chance it most likely will

Welcome Adalina. I am day 8 finally after first attempt back in early July. I can only offer support, and few pieces of advice..listen to the veterans here, and make a commitment to yourself to not drink today. (unless you are physically dependant, then see a dr. first) .

Glad you are here

Welcome, I'm on day one myself. The struggle is REAL. I can't do it alone and talking about my feelings with people on this forum will help me tremendously and I hope it does for you one day at a time.

Good luck

Welcome adalina! I'm at two months sober and I can tell you that finally being sober is fantastic, and gets better every day. Sure, it's hard, but you can do it. We'll support you in any way we can
