Serenity

I have changed. I was always looking to be entertained. Looking for chaos or the next buzz. I always wanted to be somwhere other than where I was.

How I have changed. Just got done with a wonderful farm fresh dinner, corn red potatoes, wax beans, tomatoes, and ribs on the barbecue. Full, content, and talking to my wife.

What I used to call boredom I now call serenity.

That's lovely, Mir.
I am happy you are finding some serenity.

I have some of that too, Mine is mindfulness.

Sounds like you and your wife have had a lovely dinner today.

I feel the same way with the simple things these days. Don't know if it's cause is sobriety or just exhaustion, acceptance and age.

Me too - you put it into words so well, MIR. I ran myself ragged for many years. Still not sure what I was looking for, or running from.

I don't think it makes much difference. Being sober and content with where we are is all that is important

Mmm hmm. That is awesome!

I was always the same way. At 4months, I still am at times. Wanting to be somewhere else. But I absolutely understand what you're saying.

Sounds like you had a great day. +1 for you

Great post, MIR. I was always running around in circles looking for something, afraid to stop and just 'be'. Now, thankfully, life is peaceful.

It takes a while to learn how to live sober and cherish this wonderful life we have granted. I have found each day gets a tiny bit better and it is only when we look back can we see how far we have come

Yes. It does.

What you said about serenity is part reason why I am in this for the long haul. I am already experiencing serenity and I know serenity will grow, while the desire to chase a buzz will continue to diminish.

When I posted day 1, it was to take a break. I was drinking all day at the time for about a year. I didn't even know how long of a break. I figured 30 days would be a good start.

I'm learning though that life is so much better not always looking for a buzz. Pot, pain killers, kratom, bath salts, phenibut...anything I could get my hands on.

I'm so glad it's over.

Serenity is 1000% better then catching a buzz!

I too find a lot of joy in the simple pleasures in life. I try to savor them as they are sometimes fleeting.

Excellent post MIR... glad you have found serenity.

Living in a sober World never gets old or boring - I truly LOVE it. The little things seem very important to me now.

Have a Marvelous Monday MIR!
