My first AA meeting!
My first AA meeting!
Hey all, hope you're all well.
I'm exactly 8 weeks sober today, and finally made it to an AA meeting. It was great! A really good bunch of people, helpful and friendly. Just like SR, but in person.
The God stuff was really not pushed like a lot of people worry about. I think it's gonna become an important part of my continued recovery, but I won't rely solely upon it. I've now got a lot of local people I can call when I struggle. I like that.
If you haven't tried it before, go along. If you don't like it, you've not lost anything. It might help
Stay strong

Just like SR but in person! What a wonderful, simple way of putting it! I'm really glad you made it to a meeting and I hope you'll stick with it. I find it incredibly helpful although there are certainly times it's left me feeling frustrated.

Nice going on 8 weeks. Yeah, the God thing turns a lot of people off. It did for me too for a long time Eventually, I was able to get past it, and find a place in AA that I was comfortable with, but it's not easy. There's a place for everybody in AA no matter what your beliefs are. John
Congratulations on 8 weeks and your first AA meeting!
It's true that it doesn't matter what your beliefs are. Whatever works for you is what matters; it's a personal thing. Whenever I use the G word, it's for lack of a better word for something that I can't even describe anyway.
