The (Literal) Nightmares
Hey all, I'm sober again. I have been for 9 days now. Every time I go through this I have very vivid nightmares. I've done enough research to know it's a byproduct of the extra oxygen my brain is receiving. My question is how many of you have similar experiences.. I dread falling asleep to the point where I'm staying up very late thinking that it's better than drinking.
Hi Wakefield, congrats on 9 days. I was having problems like that. I would lay awake until 4 a.m. and have crazy dreams once I drifted off. After about 2 weeks though one night I just felt exhausted at 9:00 and laid down and fell right asleep. I've been going to bed between 10 and midnight now and waking up before 8 a.m. no problem. I still dream about drinking but just think of them as reminders to keep my priorities in order. Hang in there.
Yeah, same here but I quite enjoyed them!! I like having vivid dreams even if they are scary!! I'm a bit odd like that.... They would normally pass after a couple of weeks but saying that I did have a drinking dream last night & I'm nearly a year sober... Just accept them, no reason to feel bad or guilty. They are only dreams.... Congrats on 9 days by the way... Keep up the good fight.

Yeah, I get them as well. I've had some where I wake up, and wonder to myself, "how in the hell did my mind possibly come up with that?"
Last one was about a dozen large, strong, intelligent, talking cougars trying to break into my house to kill myself and my dogs. They were building ladders up to the roof, so they could get into through the bathroom window, and stuff. That was after I managed to get my dogs inside by shooting them with some automatic BB handgun thing I had.

I have trouble sleeping at times.
When I experience stress, I get very vivid nightmares.
I often use sleep hypnotherapy video's on you tube to help me fall asleep.
Some nights they work, some nights they don't.
Maybe you could try them?
