Yes, I can
Day 47, and I’m working on reducing my ego and focusing more on people around me, as AA is teaching me.
This weekend I’m volunteering to work at a local music festival, in exchange for tickets that I’m giving to a friend who needs some fun and entertainment.
I just found out my job tomorrow will be to chauffeur a local popstar around, which is surprisingly scary and exhilarating. Can’t remember the last time I felt anything but numb, so I’m really embracing it.
Getting myself back out there, participating in sober activities, is still novel and surprisingly fun! I volunteered a year ago as well, showed up drunk and counted the hours until I could go home and continue drinking. What a difference a year has made. It’s the small things. “Can you be a driver?” “Yes, I can!”. The silly pride I felt in being able to give an unconditional yes. Pretty priceless.
