Hello
Hi all. I'm new to SR. I've been sober since August 3rd, 2015. I'm a thirty something man who has been drinking heavily since my teens. My addiction is around a 12 pack of light beer a day. Sometimes more, but very rarely less. I've had a long desire to "cut back" on my drinking but have decided that will never be me. A couple beers is not my kind of satisfaction. I'm giving it up altogether and looking forward to it. Today I've broken the 200 beers not consumed milestone. (Average from a phone app). Feeling great but I definitely have been attacked by billboards and TV commercials these past couple weeks. Will be on here regularly I'm sure. Wish you all the best.
Hello and welcome. You've found a great place for support.
I was a twelve pack a dayer, too. Then it progressed slowly until I was buying shooters of whisky at 8am to get things rolling a little quicker.
Alcoholism is a progressive disease, so you're very wise to admit you have a problem.
Hope to hear more from you. Recovery is possible.

Welcome sober fish. In the beginning, I, too, was hyper-aware of the commercialism of booze. It's EVERYWHERE, isn't it? Trust me, over time, as you gain more confidence in your own sobriety, while you'll still notice it, it won't have the same jarring effect on you. Great job - keep putting the work in!

Welcome soberfish. There is a ton of support here! I hear you on feeling like we're being bombarded with alcohol advertising. You tube is one of the worst! I'm looking forward to it bothering me less.
Congratulations on making the decision to be sober! It has changed my life for the better!
