Hi everyone

Hi my name is Jordan and I'm a binge drinker...or should I say was? I'm 63 days sober and it feels good to mark another day off every day on my calendar. My Mom was an alcoholic and it played a role in her death (heart attack). I would drink to the point of blacking out and collapsing on the floor. I have bipolar disorder and anxiety. I guess I did it because I felt like I couldn't take it anymore. It scares me to vision myself blacked out on the floor after drinking a bottle of rum.

It scares me to think that I ended up like my Mother who was a good person and had Mental Health problems but never got treatment. I did and I still did. I almost ruined my relationship with my fiancee and that's why I decided I had to put the bottle up for good. I get anxious whenever I see alcohol and when I'm around it. Anyways thanks for listening and I look forward to meeting some of you.

Congratulations on 63 days sober, Jordan. That's fantastic. And, good for you for dealing with your bipolar and alcoholism. I think your mother would be glad to know that you are taking care of yourself.

Welcome to SR, WalleyeHunter, and congratulations on 63 sober days.

I am sorry that Mom was not able to find sobriety. I believe that alcoholism contributed to my father's early death, too.

It is great that you are taking such positive steps towards a healthy future.

Thanks Anna. I never viewed it like that. I'm unfortunately a negative person and sometimes need others to point out the positives so thank you. It hasn't been easy... There have been times when I've wanted to but I've held off.

Thanks Leigh. I'm sorry to hear that it possibly contributed to your fathers passing as well. It was hard to see your parent or parents struggle with something like that and you couldn't help them no matter what you did. Thank you very much for the positive words

It was hard; it wasn't until many years later, after I too had succumbed to alcoholism, that I truly understood the battle he was fighting.

I didn't understand it either until I struggled with it as well Leigh. I guess all we can do is honor there memory by continuing to be sober for them and remembering the good times we did share with them as well.
