Progress in days

Haven't posted for a few days but still staying busy and hitting meetings just about everyday. Its become habitual at this point. May not go tomorrow just so I can get some things done and spend time with fam.

Its been 52 days completely sober (53 since the last drink). Considering how I drank that is pretty surprise to myself. Lord willing the progress will continue.

The phrase that is said over and over and over again in meetings "one day at a time" (or just for today) use to irritate me. I wanted to had been sober for 3 or 4 years. But that time is built on seconds, mins, hrs, days, etc.

The continuous present is all I can deal with. The cannot be re-written and the future has yet to come.

Am I completely happy...no. Could things be better...yes. However, if I was drinking they could be way worse.

For anyone that wants to see the way I value 1 day sober, this is my mind thinking about what 1 day can do:

MIP (1 day); DUI (1 day); 2nd DUI (1day); Lost trust with family (1 day); lost job (1 day); lost relationship (1 day); lost friend (1day)

1 day can change your life for years. So for me, 1 (and each day) sober is pretty important.

Good luck to everyone and thanks!

I'm still counting days, but I'm looking forward to counting months.

Years? Maybe someday. I have 23 years since my last cigarette.

A good way to look at it. A day sober is a day not causing pain for ourselves and the ones around us.
