Allen Carr books?

Hi all,

I'm day 34, went to a bookshop today to see if they had any good books on alcoholism/sobriety. They had one by two women, written FOR women, so didn't bother with that. Then they had Allen Carr's book. I liked his quit smoking book, and it did help me quit years ago (although I still smoke now). But as far as I know, he was never an alcoholic; so I'm not sure I want to take advice from somebody who actually has no idea what it's like.

Anybody read it?? Any good?

Hi Carver, I have read it twice recently, I would say it's worth a read. He did feel that alcohol was a huge problem for him. I think he has a good idea where we are at right now.

And thank you, Anna! I'll look into it. I'm doing well so far, but I've got some testing times coming up, and I'll need all the help I can get

You said you are still smoking so I would say read the Alan Carr book again. I mean properly read it, making notes if need be and taking time to digest what he says and turn over what it means for you. I did that and it enabled me to quit smoking permanently.

Alan Carr or jason vale. Similar message, both good. I've read them both twice.

I agree! I started reading his book (the alcohol one) a couple of years ago and I had placed stickies with my own personal notes on them. I stopped reading mid-way through - I guess I wasn't truly ready yet - anyway, reading it again now and it's interesting to read my notes now. I really haven't changed the way I was thinking which is good I guess. I am about halfway through again and I intend to finish it this time.

It is repetitive but I think that can be a good thing! Good luck!
