Here I am....AGAIN

Hi everyone....it seems I've fallen and I fell hard....I had 2 solid years under my belt....now here I am again unsure of what to do anymore....today I really hate myself for letting the bottle control me and control everything in my life, my family and friends are devastated....I'm afraid right now....can I get sober and STAY sober??? Should I even try anymore....I've really disappointed myself and today I just don't even feel worthy....I need help I really do...Thanks for reading this....

Hi and welcome.

I’ve been active in AA a lot of years and see too many relapses which often becomes a crisis situation. Usually the reason is we start to live a good life and seem to put active recovery on the back burner to “ get back to our lives.” During that period we slip back and reaquire the actions and reactions of the past which puts us into relapse mode, real hard to get out of.

We find that recovery is choosing a program and sticking to it every day and do the work required. Even if we don’t want to.

BE WELL

Welcome back! Don't beat yourself up too bad. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and try again. You made it two years and that's an awesome accomplishment. What made you pick up the first drink?

Don't give up. You can do this!

Of course you should keep on trying; you're totally worth it. If what you were doing before wasn't enought to keep you sober, then look at what needs to be changed.
I relapsed after 30 years and the last 10 of those were without doing the things I needed to do to maintain my recovery.
The important thing is to not beat yourself up, learn from it, and carry on.
The great thing is that you've made it back. Many don't.

Yes... You should try....

And yes, you CAN!!

I am sorry you relapsed. But you're back here and you're alive.

So it isn't over.

Many of the most beautiful comeback stories involve epic struggles and painful catastrophe.

Congratulations: you're poised for a beautiful comeback.

SIPD I'm sooo Sorry to hear that . This month marks 2 years for me & I know I would feel horrible myself .. Most I can tell you is to pick yourself up & hop back on recovery .
I've learnt it's NOT the amount of time you have gathered - it's the knowledge you have learnt . I know in my mind if or ever I do fall - I have to get up - for if I don't I will DIE a slow painful death . That is No way to live , besides that . Think of the burden you will or may put on your family , if you don't try again ?
I waited too long & my health was almost shot . Dr gave me 6 months if I hadn't stopped 2 years ago.
I don't know your reasons why you had to, but please take it from me . That is no way to live life . What their is left of my family , pushed me aside (still to this day) but I decided I will not put them through anymore pain . That my drinking has done to them .
Show them and that Beast you Will Not Let It Take Control - Keep on Fighting !! Hope this gives you some strength

I need help I really do

Yep, that's what I found. It's really hard to quit by yourself without outside help.

If you are an alcoholic, relying on yourself for guidance on how to get and stay sober is dumb.

It took me awhile to figure that out.

SIPD - I'm so glad you came back. I had 3 yrs. once & started up again. I guess for me, I needed further proof that I couldn't touch it. I have over 7 yrs. now - so of course you must continue to try - and you are worthy of a great life. Let's do this.

Yes you should try and Yes you are worthy!

You have a desire or you wouldn't be posting here.

Make a good solid plan and stick to it NO MATTER WHAT.

You are capable of doing this. If you had 2 years you know it is possible.

Nothing worth having comes easy. It is time you see your worth and step on over to the side of life that can provide you with what you deserve!

Stay close here, we will be here to support you every step of the way!

Yes get back to it. If it is indeed a problem for you then it will never work again. It will only make things worse. Well that's my experience.

Get back to where you once belonged! You recovery!

You can do this. You made it two years! That's huge!! Figure out the misstep and add it to your already proven formula.

"can I get sober and STAY sober??? Should I even try anymore."

Yes, and Yes!!! Please don't ever quit quitting!

I relapsed 22 yrs ago after 6 incredible yrs of sobriety. It wasn't too late for me to get back to sober living and it isn't for you, either, (((SIPD)))

HI SIPD, we all know that you can do it, as you demonstrated for 2 years. My only advice is to focus right now on getting sober, then devise your plan to stay sober. Love to hear from you.
