I remember that feeling. The last time it happened to me was the start of 2 plus years ongoing sobriety. How about finding a way to safely put down the bottle?

Can you make a change in your routine today Troy? Any small change can make a difference and have a ripple effect in your life?

Are you doing ok Troy? Have you given up to try in August again? If so it's better to just through it (withdrawal) and move on. I wish you the best.

No. You know how when you're about a week or two into a binge, and you know you're about to fall off a cliff, whether you like it or not? That's where I am.

I know this, because just woke up a while ago from a nap, and my dogs are quite obviously worried sick about me again. That sucks, because I love them to no end.

EDIT: Don't worry, my dogs are fine. Trust me, they don't go without. If anything, they're spoiled brats.

Ughhh.. I'm sorry everyone. I'm going to sleep. Self detox and sobriety starts tomorrow (again), along with my long-term plan.

Gottta admit, wish there were times I had the strength to kill myself, but I don't. I'm such a great, intelligent, good hearted guy too. Would be sad to see me go to waste.

Anyway, off to bed.

Long term plans are great, but a short term plan for tomorrow and not repeating the cycle of today might be something to think about.

Keep it simple, what is going to be the change in habit, the change in routine, the breaking of the cycle that will equal Day 1 of Sobriety and moving onwards to Day 2!!

You can do this Troy!!

Hey,

I'm on day 1, too. You're not alone out there. Don't drink today. Can't fix yesterday today. Stay sober today

I always enjoy reading your contributions to the forum, and I hope you are able to pull a plan together to stay sober.

Ugghh... conference call coming up with "senior partner and investors" to see if they want to move forward. Well, that should be fun.

See kids, this is why you shouldn't drink. I could probably easily take this guy for $50k, but instead, will probably lose him as a client and end up with my standard $2k projects. Eff me...

Here is your kick

Yes being drunk or hungover never makes business decisions more profitable.

Hi Troy,
I realize now that I don't know your story. I'm sad to see you in such a state.
You have been one of the inspirations to me on this site and I actively seek out your posts. I know that you have a lot of wisdom, empathy and strength to offer others. Last week I posted a "depressing" somewhat negative report and you wrote back just to ask "how I was doing" the next day. It meant something to me. I hope you can shake this off. You ARE needed so enough of this "offing" yourself business. And we all know that drinking is the same but slower route to that same end.
In your camp!
Jonathan

There's a lot of "probably's" and "should's" in that sentence. Your work involves important decision making and careful planning - why not apply some of that to your alcohol issues.

It's not even 8am, and I'm out of booze.

Looks like I'll have to sleep again, and white knuckle the thing when I wake up. Can't wait to uncontrollably shake while laying in my bed. That's always fun.

Ugghhh... why didn't my first marriage just work out? We're so good for each other, it's not even funny. But then we moved to Eastern Europe, and that was the beginning of the end.

PS. If you're gay, don't move to Eastern Europe. They're pretty homophobic over there.

If kicking you would get you sober I'd do it - but it won't.

You need to think about how far you're prepared to go to change things in order to get sober, Troy - that's pretty much the bottom line.

If the honest answer is 'not much' then you're really consigning yourself to a road to hell that will make today look like a stroll in the park.

it's your call Troy - noone can save you but you.
