Thanks for posting this.

Very powerful. That poor family. A poignant reminder for us all of how close we are to the edge.

Heroin use seems to be on the rise here in the UK as well. Scary stuff.

Very sad...

In both rehab facilities I went to, heroin and other opiates were by far the most common addictions among the younger patients. There were a couple older men who used them but not nearly as many. When I was younger I never heard of anyone using heroin except in bigger cities like NYC and LA, and those were usually the stereotypical junkies. The guys I met in rehab mostly came from very affluent families and seemed to be a bit spoiled and pampered most of their lives. Yet they were reduced to sticking needles in their arms. Just shows to what lengths we'll go to continue our addictions. Insanity.

I thought one of the most powerful statements was that 100 percent of those who injected never thought they would ever inject drugs.

I'm not quoting it very well but as an addict, you slowly but surely lower the bar until you are doing things you never thought you would do. You don't even recognize yourself. You imagine you would stop before you would ever do that. Then that becomes your new norm.
