Went to docs today was completely honest bout my drinking and that i want to stop after several failed attempts goin cold turkey she was clueless went to ask advice from another doc then told me to taper and stop no prescriptions no bloodwork taken no advice just not to take my own blood pressure at home and go back in 4 weeks not quite what i was expecting from a doctor after 7 years drinking!

Hi Caitlin i would definitely get a 2nd opinion im sorry that happened

You should be able to get help with WD if you go to your local hospital they will definitely help with WD and additional help i know as ive done it

Sorry that happened ive experienced that before & its frustrating if you want to talk you can always send a msg

Or failing that maybe go back and ask if you can be referred to a specialist. I know from my own experience how hard it is to be upfront about alcoholism so when you get such a poor consultation it is really dispiriting

Congratulations on stopping and keep persevering

Not all doctors understand addiction. Have you considered AA or another meeting based recovery group?

good for you for being honest with your doctor. I had 2 doctors ask me about my drinking I lied both times.

Even now sober my doc asked what my tattoo was I said oh just the date i quit drinking but left it at that I guess the cats out of the bag how many non alcoholics get tattoos like that? oh well.
