Feeling more optimistic
Feeling more optimistic
I posted the other day about my first week going to AA and the emotional mess I was. I stood up and got my 24 hour chip today. I cried but it was almost in relief, I think. The hugs/encouragement were just amazing. Afterward I spoke to a couple women who took my number. I ended up going out to lunch with a guy from the meeting and it was so nice to be able to talk openly about everything.
He told me he's been driving 45 minutes to the meeting because he was told it was the best in the entire area. I feel lucky to have found a great group on my first try. really feeling positive that I might be able to do this. Cautiously optimistic!

I'm very optimistic for you too, lilbean! The fact that you enjoyed the meeting and got so much of it thanks to the good people there GREATLY adds to the recovery. I remember, in my past, I used to dislike the meetings because I'm such an introvert -- but I kept going because it kept me sober. However, over time, I would eventually come up with BS excuses not to go -- and in short time I was drinking again.
Keep up the good work and keep making friends with the good AA'ers.
