Day 5 check in

What up SR? Happy Friday!

It's still morning here on America's west coast and I just got out of my firm's Friday sales meeting.

I went to AA last night. Good meeting, some interesting shares. I didn't share, although I was going to a couple times but someone spoke up before me, then all of the sudden the hour had passed and the meeting was over.

I feel great. Been sleeping great. This weekend will be a challenge as I've gone 4 or 5 days in the past easily but the weekends had always been a time for me to "get my swerve on" :-) No longer. I plan on cooking dinner for the fam-bam tonight. Getting another good night's sleep. Getting up tomorrow and going for a lift and run. There was a time in my life when I'd never go more than 3 days without lifting weights and running. The last few years it's been months on end without a lift or a run, but drinking pretty much everyday. I'm small and weak now. Not enough energy to keep up with my kids. Anyway, that is changing.

SR has been a great help! Thanks for all who share. Good luck to all this Friday!

Lot's of love!

Hey Scott and SoberWolf. Thanks for the kind words. I do have a plan, finally. That has been my downfall in the past. But, I don't think I really wanted to quit until now. My drinking has continued to progress. And even though I am still able to stop after 2 or 3 drinks, it's very hard. I white knuckle. And in the past I would do it and say "Hey, see I can just drink two or three drinks, I'm not an alcoholic." lol Denial. That's a problem...So, that among other things has made me decide to stop.

I believe I've gotten ahead of my addiction in some respects since I'm not at "rock bottom" I haven't lost my job, or family or been arrested...yet. All those things will come if I continue down the path I was headed.

It's been hard to admit I'm powerless once I begin to drink, but it's the truth. So, onward and upward.

Lot's of love!

As you have found, denial is a huge part of alcoholism. When I look back, I can't believe my thought-patterns in those days. I'm glad you have a plan and that you know you want to change your life. We're here for you.

Awesome post. Staying close to SR has helped me so much. Anytime I feel like I want to drink, I come here. Actually, I'm here a lot when I don't feel like drinking too. It's a great place and I'm glad you're here.
