THANKS for posting this. I think most partners of addicts/alcoholics (unless they run at the first sign of trouble) exhibit some "co-dependent" behaviors from time to time. I know I did. I never felt I was co-dependent by nature, and I never felt trapped by any of it. It took me some time to untangle what was mine and what was my partner's--sort of like untangling necklaces in a jewelry box jumble--but once I got a better handle on it I wasn't troubled by it.
