End of day two but with high spirits this time
Soooo, it all went a little wrong again around a week ago. Went to meet some friends and also some people I didn't know and anxiety went racing, no meds and was at the top of a large hill having a BBQ so I had one drink...turned into lots of drinks and that was followed by the weekend of more drinks.
So lesson learnt this time is not to much the social side of things to early, I was on day 7 or 8 I think and its takes me about 13 days for the anxiety to go away enough to have chats with random people for extended periods of time. Also more exercise is needed but thats going to have to wait a few more days as on Saturday (or Friday) I put my foot through a empty bottle of wine what someone had kindly put in the lake, didn't realise till the following morning when there was a element of blood around my foot...ooops.
Thankfully the anxiety doesn't appear to be as bad this time but I am aware of the kindling effect.
Have felt rather trapped recently as my truck had a little accident a few weeks ago and the insurance have only just paid out (thankfully was on private land and just me in it) so will be collecting my new truck in a few days.
Good to see all you guys again.

When I got Sober I really needed to change up the activities I got involved in and the people I hung out with, it wasn't for ever, but making Sobriety work and strengthening those Sober muscles was the priority!!
Go at things again, change up your plan, you can do this!!

"I had one drink...turned into lots of drinks and that was followed by the weekend of more drinks." That's a sign, and it sounds like you are aware of it. Do what you gotta do man and try to make it stick. Best wishes.

Hi.
Good for you and your sober time, one day at a time in a row works when we work it.
For many our best non drinking friends are in AA and the path I chose to follow after all my attempts to be sober failed.
BE WELL
Congrats on day 2 Hopscotch. I agree with the others, I had to avoid social situations early on too. I think it's just part of giving yourself the best shot at success. With time, you will build that tolerance to be able to handle those situations a little easier.
Bounce your plan off of us. What are you going to do differently to make this happen?
You can do this!

End of day 3 and tucked up in bed with warm milk.
Not really sure, avoid social alcohol sessions. I drink the next day to dull the anxiety, if there was no anxiety I don't think I would have a problem but I do.

Maybe you need a little more detail in your plan tho? A good plan needs to be flexible enough to deal with any eventuality.
I think you'd do better focusing on having a wide array of things you can do, rather than a focus simply on avoiding and not doing things?
It's a different perspective yeah?
There's some really great ideas on recovery plans here hopscotch.

Will have a read Dee and see what I can come up with, thank you.
End of day four and in bed about to watch a film. Feel white lonely and a little down as not seen and friends for four days now.

Congrats on 5 days. Sorry to hear about your sleep touble, I'm on day 12 and my sleeping still isn't very consistent yet. I think it's a good thing avoiding your "drinking friends" for now. I have been down that road and often the temptation turns out to be too great to join in, especially in the early days.
