Welcome, tnjeeper
Give yourself a few days of recovery - sleep, watch movies, eat healthy foods, drink a lot of water.
All the rest of it will fall into place if you just don't pick up that first drink. Good job, keep it going.

Hello tnjeeper ...
This is a great place to be for what you are describing ...
I drank for 40 years, and 1 day my wife said to me when I came home from work, " I don't want you to come home drinking anymore".
That started a long road to getting sober ... and it wasn't pretty. However, it started the process which led me to the MIRACLE of being FREE.

I have hobbies. Love off roading. It's just when we camp. That's when we all sit back and drink. That's going to be a challenge. We also bought 2 kayaks so gonna be doing that a lot as well. And we built a gym downstairs so just gonna stay active and get back in shape.
Welcome tnjeeper - you found a great place for good company & encouragement.
Day 3 is tough - but things will become easier as you go along. A whole new life of freedom is waiting for you. Be patient and kind to yourself as you heal.

I have to take you at your word and if you feel if you don't stop its going to kill you, well you're pretty far down the rabbit hole. My first go to when I joined this site was exercise and well, it can help A LOT, but sometimes more is needed. But you are in luck, this site is packed with really smart people who have done and seen it all and more than willing to help you. Keep us posted.
hello tnjeeper,
I travel at times with other construction managers to jobstes, and when we stay at hotels or grill out at a superintendents house, they always drink beer and wine. They are the same guys I used to drink with in the same situations, but I was the one hitting the liquor I had in my laptop bag.
Now that I have worked the Steps, and am FREE from the Obsession & Craving cycle of my Alcoholism, I don't drink (while they do) and it doesn't bother me at all. I am still just as involved in lively conversations, and I don't run the risk of getting drunk and being an ASS.
