****!!!!!! Help me God.

I was doing so well and had a massive craving and gave in. How did I ever stay sober for over 5 years?

This disease is evil! I feel like I'm ready to just give up. :-(

I'm soooooo tired.

Yeah serenidad, rehab might be a good idea. I'm sorry you are hurting right now. But....you have the power to pick yourself up and start again. You can do this. Your 5 years proves that.

Ditto on rehab, Serenidad. I'm sorry you gave in. What triggered the craving? Why didn't you post about it? Did you call someone?

Hang in there. Don't beat yourself up, get some rest and start again.

You had five years.... you can have many, many more.

Now is not a time to give up.... unless you mean "give up" drinking.

I know how hopeless it can feel, being stuck in the grip of addiction....

it's not hopeless. we're here for you. you can do it.

What is the very next thing, RIGHT NOW, that you can do to move closer to sobriety in this moment...... then deal with the next.... the next.

Stay with us.

I hope you can dust yourself off, forgive yourself and get right back to it.

(((Serenidad))) you've got this!

That's how alcohol made me feel too … pretends to be one thing but only delivers misery, suffering and hopelessness ..

I hope you get out from under it serenidad , I've not been to re-hab but Dee, Ruby and the people posting know what they are talking about .. I'd seriously listen to what they say

Try to live in the solution...and not the problem. Okay the disease sucks...what can you do about it? Reformulate your recovery plan. How did you stay sober for 5 years? Do the exact same thing because it was obviously working. Just stick to your stuff! Remeber live in the solution...not the problem!

Got these few words of encouragement sent to me, hope it can also make you feel better Serenidad:

Even the most seasoned believers experience failure and the big question at such times isn't, 'How could I have let that happen?' but, 'What's the right way to deal with it?' Indulging in self-condemning thoughts comes naturally to us, but it does no good. It just produces discouragement, and adds failure upon failure. Are you there? Do you recognise the pattern? Defeat, discouragement, despair, and more defeat. Forget those things which are behind, press toward the goal. Like a child learning to walk, when you fall don't lie down and give up. Minimise your down-time - get back up and walk again!
YOU CAN DO IT !!!

Serenidad, reading this made my heart race. I appreciated you posting this, I'll be 5 years sober on the 10th of July. If it can happen to you, it can happen to me.

I'm sorry to hear that but I'm glad you got on here and posted.
We all know you can do this, no matter how you're feeling right now. Time to get back up and try again. We're all here for you!

What are you going to do differently this time? Did you do something else when you had your 5 years that may have made a difference?

I'm sorry you hit a bump in the road, Serenidad, but it's just that- a bump in the road. I admit it's hard to pop the hood and see into our brains to see what's going on. Why did you suddenly get the cravings after so long? What changed in your life? It could be as simple as complacency.

Just keep your efforts focused on the problem, and don't beat yourself up.

I feel your pain Serenidad, I was 4 yrs. sober and then just lost it. Many relapses and detox's recently. I enrolled in an IOP (intensive out patient) because I feel I needed a "booster" shot of recovery. I'm glad I did....I will finish up this week and move on the continuing care. The hours are convenient, so I can still work and be home with my family....it is the next best thing to in-patient. I feel very positive right now and my recovery looks good in the future. Just google IOP's in your area, and find one that works for you. Best Wishes.

What's 28 days instay at a rehab facility
worth it to you and the rest of your life?

28 days is nothing compared to staying
sick day after day with an addiction. A
sickness, illness, disease.

I was forced into rehab because I was
sick and family didn't know what else
to do to help me. They placed me into
the hands of doctors, councilors, theraphists
who could teach me about my addiction
that was killing me.

28 days in a controlled environment,
structured, no alcohol to reach for, to
tempt us is a good way to give ourselves
a good start to learn to remain sober
each day.

It's a gift of life to give ourselves.

It took family to get me help for my
addiction that I so needed at that time
in my life. For that and them I am truly
grateful.

28 days out of our life in rehab would
and could give us a good start in building
a strong, solid, satisfying foundation to
live our life upon incorporating tools and
knowledge of a recovery program into
our everyday life.

What's 28 days out of our life worth it
you you?
