Well, I am not a newcomer to this site, (I was known as wicked_ways a few years ago) but I am back to get support from old friends and new.

I was going to a pain management clinic at the
VA hospital and worked myself up to 60 mg of methadone a day.
Mailed to me biweekly.
My two youngest children were becoming distant (I thought) and harsh with me. My daughter finally said, "You are not YOU anymore. You have lost your wit, you used to be snappy and quick."

Wow. I had numbed myself into oblivion again......

Okay, now I have moved from Michigan to Georgia. I hated cold weather. Yep, it is hot here, but I can get used to that.

I get to the VA hospital in Georgia, still clutching my refill bottle from the Michigan VA. hahahaha! The doctor here says, "We don't do that here. No "pain management" at this VA hospital.

As of June 8 of this year I am methadone free. The doctor gave me 5mg hydrocodone every 6 hours. I am now wondering if I can just stop taking those too.

I want to be free of everything. Not dependent on any substance.
Alcohol free - August 18 1996
Nicotine free- September 2011 (I thought I would smoke until the end of days!)
Opioid free? soon. very soon.

I think you can ask your dr if you can stop taking the hydrocodone.

Good emotions. Starting to feel again. How amazing is that?

When I read other's stories, I can stop contemplating my own navel.
Life is good for me right now. I am going to give that a chance.
I have to remember that good for me does not mean good for anyone else.
