Talking Newcomer

Well, I'll do the best I can to figure this out. First post as a newcomer, but looking forward to this "fellowship". As I plug along (sorry about the pun) I'd appreciate your patience and assistance. In advance, thank you.

Welcome, Canyonjack!

You might want to take a look at the June 2015 thread - all people who started their sober time this month. If you want to, please feel free to tell us a bit about yourself.

Welcome canyonjack. You will like it here. I, too, am a newcomer
(27 days) and I know how tough it is to write that first post. You will find acceptance, understanding and wisdom here. Keep coming back.

Welcome to SR! Lots of love and support here from people who have broken free from the death grips of alcoholism.

Welcome to SR, canyonjack! I highly suggest joining and actively participating in the Class of June 2015 thread on this same forum. It's a great way to learn from and help others in early recovery.

A little about me................61 years old, sober (again) and active in A.A.. Recently the proud grandfather to 2 boys and a girl all under 2 years old. Was receptive to the request of my son to remain sober to get to know my grand children. How can you refuse that? Another program I attend is Celebrate Recovery, which I'm beginning their 12 step study as well. Last drink was January, which resulted in a visit (3 days) to the hospital for brain surgery to remove blood clots. Another real good reason to stay sober. Look forward to visiting this site more often.

Hi canyonjack, you mentioned some great reasons to remain sober, being a grandfather to two boys and a girl. Don't forget to add yourself to that list. Wishing you the best.

I missed your original post, CJ. I was older too, when I'd finally had enough. Very glad to be free of it. It's great to have you with us.
