Terrified
Ok, I need some help. I got drunk last night and drove home. I blacked out and can only remember bits and pieces but I think I hit parked car. I'm so scared and I don't know what to do. This is the end for me. My rock bottom.

I vaguely remember hitting something while driving down the street. The side of my car is damaged. This is a wake up call. I'm going to try to get into counseling tomorrow. I'm just so scared.

This is the turning point.. Also , it is great that you are planning to see a counselor.. Means, you already have started thinking about putting a plan in place... The session with counselor will help for sure.. With help of him/her, you can start discussing other aspects of plan ,like safe detox, support groups, coping strategies etc..
Great start.. Please do not turn back from this point onwards.. A very happy and blissful life awaits you ahead.. Yes, initially it will be rough. But the pain will not long last... We are all praying for you and rooting for you..

Hi Cordy, if you hit a car, it can be repaired. I hope you didn't hit a person or someone's pet. I hope you can come out of a potential hit and run unscathed. If there are surveillance cameras around, you may be getting a knock on your door. My intention is not to scare you, but just providing you with the potential reality of the situation. Insurance I believe will usually cover a hit and run with no deductible (for the car that was hit) As you've already recognized this should be the wake up call for you. You probably aren't feeling too well this morning either. Stay close to SR, these folks will help you tons. First things first, get sober. Then you can figure things out with a clear head. I wish you the very best man.
Knowing and doing are two different things.
Knowing we have a problem with alcohol
or drugs or an addiction to either or both,
but it takes action in order to start the ball
rollin, get into recovery, the beginning of
our road to recovery.
It does take lots of helpful knowledge taught
to us to learn how to live each day without
drinking or using.
Listen, Learn, Absorb and Apply
Knowledge and Action

Acceptance was the answer - Sharon "said" it already. I have to not only accept I have a problem I have to accept the solution.
Part of my solution was taking responsibility for my actions .
Thanks for the thread. Many of us have been exactly where you are today. I know I was - I appreciate the reminder.
There is hope - you can do this Cordy.

Cody, I think as a first step you should take responsibility for the hit and run. You apparently damaged someone else's property. You knew where you were out drinking and you know your home so most likely you knew how to get home even in your blackout. Please retrace your route and step up and find the damage and take care of it. Or hide. I know you are scared but you have to do what is right.
