Hi I'm new here!

I just want to introduce myself, I am 47, female, stay at home mom. Married for 18 years with 16 year old daughter.
Had first drink around 16 and it was such an awful experience, I rarely touched it again.
Then 3 years ago I decided to fly after a long time of not traveling. I had a drink on the airplane.
Long story short, I am now an alcoholic of the binge drinking type. Not for pleasure, but self medication. I hold my nose and gulp it down.
I'm in therapy, go to A.A. Meetings 5x a week, and am reading about other options for recovery. My last binge was June 15th.
I think this is going to be an interesting place!

Welcome, Listener!

I also self-medicated with alcohol and of course, it turned out badly.

Hello Listener ...
This Sober Recovery site has been a huge part of my recovery ... hope to see you stay around and hear your progress.

AA saved my life, but I struggled hard for a long time. "Just Don't Drink and Go to Meetings" helped, but my Life was turned around (and as the Big Book says, Rocketed Into the 4th Dimension), when I actually worked the 12 Steps, with help from my Sponsor and by doing online Web Searches for Sites that offer free help with each of the steps.

Also, I got a great amount of help and direction by doing Web Searches for Recovery Speaker messages, most of which are FREE.

RDBplus3 ... Happy, Joyous, and FREE ... and I KNOW U can B 2

Welcome Listener. Post often and be open. I'm on day 4 and looking at a long weekend of cravings but I'll post here and keep my mind busy.

Best to you.

Really happy you are here. Such a group of real people who struggle and share those struggles and successes. Be as open as you can and post lots. I've had several day ones here and have never felt judged, only supported. Because everyone has been there!!

Welcome Listener! I was also a binge drinker that used it mostly to self-medicate. I'm glad you are here! Awesome people here who really understand and care!

From one 47 year old to another ( I'm only two days sober) lets congratulate ourselves on this turning point!
