Is this where I introduce myself?
Apologies if I'm in the wrong place.
But at any rate, hello everyone. I'm Lucinda.
It looks like there's lots of good advice and support here, so I'm somewhat optimistic.
Right now, however, I'm terribly low as I've lost my partner to my behaviour and I'm feeling quite alone. I realise I have to change and stop drinking. Ever. Somehow this doesn't scare me or intimidate me as much as the thought that perhaps, even if I succeed and actually achieve becoming a recovering alcoholic, he won't want me back.
Anyway, I'd like to believe that this is the worst I'll feel, because I'm at the full-impact-realisation beginning, but somehow I suspect that's naive.

Hi and welcome Lucinda
I moved your post to its own thread. You'll get more replies this way
It's hard looking at the wreckage our addiction leaves us with, but I promise things do get better - you'll find a ton of support here

Hi Lucinda - welcome. I am also somewhat of a newcomer. I just spent the last three days in the hospital detoxing. A new low for me. Now, I'm developing a plan to help keep me sober. Part of that plan is SR. Im now have a new addiction... Advice from my friends here! I hope you find the same and continue to come read and post. There is great advice here!
Glad you joined us, Lucinda. You might also like to look at the other pages on this blog. The family of alcoholics page gives a little different perspective than the family of drug addicts page, and so on.
Please keep coming back!

Hi Lucinda, welcome
In sobriety many things that seemed implausible became realistic. It does all start with staying sober one day at at time. That allows us to deal with issues in our past over time and today clearly and with the right frame of mind.
So happy you made a decision to join us.

Welcome aboard. Most of us were once as low as you feel right now, in some cases lower. When you quit drinking, eventually things do get better. A little over a year ago I was a lost person at the end of my rope. I have a new life today. Anyone can do it, you did a brave thing joining this site and reaching out.
So glad you found us Lucinda!
You will find compassionate support here at SR from people who can really identify with what you are going through. We all lean on one another during our tough times and celebrate each other's milestones as they come along.
When and if we slip up we are given encouragement and advice to help us start again.
We are here for you and welcome you with open arms.
You can do this!
